About
PedalSwap got its beginnings when Wylam signed up for Georgia Tech's Idea-To-Prototype class with a loosely formed idea for guitar players.
After recruiting Zephyr to the team, we spent most of the Fall 2025 semester brainstorming ideas, with help from our mentor Aaron Lanterman. We eventually landed on creating a simple, analog, budget modular guitar pedal.
Late into the semester is when Parker was brought in to help us actually build out the prototype; he was crucial in finalizing our prototype in time for showcase, where his amazing work secured us 2nd place in the class.
Our prototype was a mess of circuits an wires, but our proof-of-concept was solid enough to demonstrate our concept and enthusiasm. Inside that gold envelope, as part of our prize, was a ticket to the semi-finals of the Georgia Tech Inventure Prize.
This put us in crunch time. Once we got back to school for the spring, we went full speed towards getting a TV-ready prototype and marketing our project on social media. Using primarily school resources to build it, we finished our product with hours to spare and were ready for the competition.
Our functional prototype, confidence in the project, and established social media presence came together to get us 2nd place in the Inventure Prize, which gave us $10,000 as well as access to patent funding and assistance.
This was a huge turning point for us; putting our project on display and having such a positive reception gave us a lot of confidence that people resonate with our project.
Now, we are going through Georgia Tech's Create-X startup launch program, where we have worked on preparing our business for entering the market. Our new design is in the works, and will be available to consumers in the near future.
Most recently, we exhibited our project at Open Sauce 2026, which was an amazing opportunity for us and we met countless enthusiastic nerds who care about projects like us.
We are currently working on our next design, which is the version we will put into musicians' hands. If you want to join us on for this, pre-order now or join our mailing list for updates!
